Alleged drug trafficker Kehelbaddara Padme remanded further
Koralegamage Mandinu Padmasiri Perera, commonly known as Kehelbaddara Padme, has been ordered into continued custody on charges relating to drug trafficking and organised crime. The Colombo Chief Magistrate extended his remand period until October 1.

The suspect was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama via video link from a correctional facility on Monday. Authorities allege that Perera is involved in large-scale drug trafficking operations and maintains links to organised criminal networks operating across the island.
The magistrate approved the further remand following representations from the Criminal Investigation Department, which sought extended custody to pursue ongoing investigations into the suspect's alleged activities. The CID has been investigating Perera's connections to drug distribution networks and related criminal enterprises.
Pedera faces multiple charges stemming from his alleged involvement in narcotics trafficking. Law enforcement officials have identified him as a significant figure in organised crime circles. The remand extension indicates that investigators require additional time to gather evidence and question the suspect regarding his suspected criminal network.
