The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has submitted before the Madras High Court that its investigation into former School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has revealed instances of alleged party fund collection during his tenure in office. The disclosure was made through a counter affidavit filed before Justice V. Lakshminarayanan, responding to Poyyamozhi's plea to quash the First Information Report registered against him. The CCB's findings form part of its efforts to counter the former minister's legal challenge to the FIR. Poyyamozhi had approached the high court seeking to invalidate the criminal case, contending that the charges against him were without merit. However, the CCB's counter submission indicates that investigative findings support the continuation of the probe. The matter remains pending before the high court as arguments on the petition continue. The case centres on allegations pertaining to the collection of funds during Poyyamozhi's period as the state's School Education Minister, a position that would have placed him in charge of the education portfolio.
