AM Green to invest ₹10,000 crore in bio-refineries across India

AM Green has unveiled an ambitious expansion strategy in India's renewable fuels sector, announcing a ₹10,000 crore investment programme to construct five bio-refineries over the next seven years. The projects will be distributed across three states, positioning the company as a significant player in the emerging biochemical industry.

The bio-refineries will be located in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, states that offer suitable agricultural feedstock availability and logistical advantages. The company's multi-state approach reflects a diversified strategy to source various feedstock materials for bio-refining operations, reducing dependency on any single supply chain.

Bio-refineries convert biomass and organic waste into biochemical products and biofuels, offering an alternative to petroleum-based refining. AM Green's initiative aligns with India's renewable energy targets and efforts to develop sustainable industrial capacity, while potentially creating employment and supporting agricultural-based economies in the selected regions.

The investment plan comes as India accelerates its transition towards cleaner energy sources and seeks to reduce fossil fuel dependence. The bio-refinery sector is expected to play a crucial role in meeting circular economy objectives and generating value from agricultural residue and waste materials.
