Amanah is poised to retain a significant presence in the Melaka state assembly following the upcoming elections, party vice-president Hatta Ramli said on Tuesday. The Islamic-oriented party, which contests under the Pakatan Harapan banner, is aiming to secure a minimum of five seats from the seven state constituencies it is fielding candidates in. "We are nearly assured of at least four seats," Ramli told reporters, expressing confidence in the party's electoral prospects. The party's optimism is anchored on the strong performance Pakatan Harapan achieved across Melaka during the 2022 general election, where the coalition demonstrated considerable voter support in the state. Amanah's electoral strategy reflects broader efforts by the opposition coalition to maintain and expand its footprint in the southern state, where recent polling dynamics have shown shifting voter preferences.
