Amazon has significantly accelerated its logistics push across India, extending ultra-fast delivery capabilities to over 120 cities spanning the country's length and breadth. The expansion, announced Friday, brings the service to towns including Amritsar and Abohar in Punjab, Mangalore in Karnataka, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, and Kochi in Kerala.
The e-commerce company has doubled its Amazon Now footprint in just two weeks, reflecting intensified competition in India's booming online delivery market ahead of the festive season. The service operates through a network of approximately 800 micro-fulfillment and urban fulfillment centres, enabling rapid order processing and delivery in covered areas.
Amazon Now offers a diverse product range spanning groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen items, personal care, fashion, beauty products, small appliances, and home and kitchen goods. The expansion into tier-II and tier-III cities demonstrates the company's strategy to capture emerging consumer demand beyond metropolitan areas.
The move comes as Amazon prepares for its Great Indian Festival, a major sales event during the festive period when online shopping typically surges. The expansion underscores growing consumer appetite for convenience-driven shopping across smaller towns and cities, where rapid delivery services remain relatively nascent.
