An American Airlines flight traveling from Dallas to Newark made an unscheduled landing in Baltimore on Wednesday after a passenger became disruptive and allegedly attacked another traveler mid-flight. The individual also directed racial insults toward a flight attendant during the incident, according to reports. The quick intervention of crew members and a retired law enforcement officer, identified as Juan Mejia, prevented further disturbances. Mejia and flight attendants worked together to subdue the passenger using zip ties and duct tape to ensure the safety of other travelers and crew on board. The flight was diverted to Baltimore-Washington International Airport, where law enforcement officials took custody of the passenger. American Airlines confirmed the incident and stated that the airline has zero tolerance for unruly behavior on its flights. The remaining passengers were accommodated on alternative flights to complete their journey to Newark.
