Erin and Chris Amerman established Critter Creek Farm Sanctuary by acquiring a 210-acre property in 2015, laying the foundation for what would become a comprehensive animal rescue operation. Recognizing the scale of need within their community, the couple expanded their initiative by adding a 200-acre ranch named Critter Hills in 2019, effectively doubling their capacity to provide refuge for animals requiring specialized care and rehabilitation.
The combined facilities now house more than 180 cattle alongside a diverse array of other rescued animals. The Amermans have developed the sanctuary with a focus on meeting the extensive space and resource requirements necessary for proper animal welfare and recovery. Their approach reflects a commitment to providing not merely shelter but genuine sanctuary conditions that allow animals to thrive.
Beyond direct animal care, the sanctuary operates as an educational resource for the broader public. Regular monthly tours and organized events provide visitors with opportunities to engage directly with the animals and learn about their individual stories. Through these interactions, the Amermans aim to cultivate greater awareness and compassion toward all animals, transforming their property into a platform for advocacy and behavioral change.
The couple continues to emphasize that sustaining and expanding their rescue operations requires ongoing investment in land, facilities, and resources. Their work underscores the significant commitment and infrastructure necessary to provide meaningful sanctuary for animals in need of refuge from industrial agriculture and other circumstances.
