Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 43 water supply and management projects across Delhi on October 22, according to an announcement by Delhi Jal Board officials.
The comprehensive project portfolio, valued at Rs 8,941 crore, comprises various water infrastructure initiatives designed to enhance the capital's water supply systems and distribution networks. Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh disclosed the details of the development on Monday, highlighting the scale and scope of the planned interventions.
The projects fall under the Delhi Jal Board's modernisation and expansion agenda, targeting improvements in water accessibility, treatment capacity, and pipeline infrastructure across the city. Officials expect the initiatives to address longstanding water supply challenges affecting numerous Delhi residents.
The simultaneous inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony reflects the staggered implementation timeline for various components of the broader infrastructure programme. The projects are expected to be executed over coming months and years, with phased completion targets aligned to resource availability and construction schedules.
The investment underscores the Delhi government's commitment to augmenting water security in the national capital, where demand continues to outpace existing supply capacity during peak seasons.
