An Giang province has intensified efforts to raise funds from the business community and charitable donors to support infrastructure development and poverty alleviation programmes. Local officials are channelling contributions toward the construction and repair of bridges, roads and housing for economically disadvantaged residents.
The resource-mobilisation drive reflects a broader regional approach to tackling poverty through partnership with private and philanthropic sectors. Similar initiatives have been implemented across Vietnam's border regions and rural areas, with tangible results in recent years.
In neighbouring provinces, comparable programmes have demonstrated measurable impact. The Ministry of Public Security has constructed and renovated over 6,300 houses for impoverished households in the Central Highlands, while charitable efforts have distributed breeding cattle to poor families along the Vietnam-Cambodia border and provided new homes to 700 disadvantaged households in Bac Lieu province.
An Giang's approach seeks to replicate this success by expanding community partnerships and leveraging corporate social responsibility initiatives. Officials said the drive would prioritise infrastructure gaps in underserved communes and support livelihoods for vulnerable populations in line with the province's rural development objectives.
