Andhra CM Naidu to seek Modi's nod for Visakhapatnam metro projects

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital to push forward critical infrastructure and development initiatives for Andhra Pradesh. The visit aims to secure central government approval for two major Visakhapatnam projects—the Metro Rail system and the Beach Corridor development—both key priorities for the state's urban infrastructure expansion. The Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project has been a long-standing goal to improve public transportation in the state's largest port city, while the Beach Corridor initiative seeks to develop the coastal area for tourism and public recreation. Beyond infrastructure, Naidu plans to request enhanced central assistance for drought relief measures across the state, addressing immediate agricultural distress affecting farmers in several regions. The Chief Minister will also seek Union government support for preparations ahead of the 2024 Godavari Pushkaram, a major religious congregation expected to draw millions of pilgrims to Andhra Pradesh, requiring substantial investment in infrastructure and crowd management.
