Andhra Police Sub-Inspector, Constable Held for Demanding ₹75,000 Bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has taken into custody a sub-inspector and constable from Chandanagar police station following allegations of demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹75,000 from a complainant. The arrests mark the latest in a series of corruption cases involving law enforcement personnel in the state.

According to ACB officials, the two officers allegedly demanded the cash payment in exchange for favourable action on a matter brought before them. The complainant filed a formal complaint with the anti-corruption agency, triggering an investigation that led to the arrests.

Both officers have been placed under formal arrest and were produced before judicial authorities as part of standard procedures. The ACB is conducting further investigations to determine whether additional offences were committed or if other individuals were involved in the alleged bribery scheme.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about corruption within police departments across South India despite periodic enforcement actions by anti-corruption bodies.
