Andhra Pradesh allocates ₹100 crore for Godavari villages before Pushkaram

The Andhra Pradesh government has released an additional ₹100 crore for development works in villages situated along the Godavari River corridor, marking a significant push to enhance civic infrastructure before the Pushkaram religious festival.

The allocation comprises ₹90 crore from Panchayat Raj Department funds earmarked for constructing 111 development projects across the region. These initiatives focus primarily on establishing road connectivity linking villages to the ghats—the traditional riverbank steps used for pilgrimage and ritual bathing—facilitating easier access for devotees and residents.

Another ₹10 crore has been allocated from the Rural Water Supply (RWS) Department to establish drinking water facilities at major ghats throughout the Godavari belt. This arrangement aims to ensure adequate potable water availability for the anticipated influx of pilgrims during the Pushkaram celebrations.

The latest sanction supplements an earlier ₹100 crore allocation through the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) for related infrastructure and environmental management initiatives. Officials stated that the coordinated funding approach reflects the government's commitment to preparing Godavari villages for the major religious event while simultaneously addressing long-standing infrastructure deficits in these communities.
