Andhra Pradesh begins counting votes for local body elections

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission initiated vote counting for the MPTC and ZPTC elections across 365 designated centres throughout the state. The process is being conducted under comprehensive security arrangements to ensure transparency and prevent any irregularities during the tabulation of votes cast in the local body polls.

State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha is personally monitoring the counting operations, along with other senior officials from the election machinery. The multi-layered security protocol has been put in place at all counting centres to maintain the integrity of the electoral process and ensure that results are declared accurately.

The MPTC and ZPTC elections are significant local governance exercises that determine representation at the mandal and district levels respectively. These elections serve as crucial indicators of political sentiment at the grassroots level across Andhra Pradesh and have attracted considerable attention from various political parties competing for control of these institutions.

The counting process is expected to continue throughout the day as officials work through the large volume of ballots cast during the voting phase. Results are anticipated to provide clarity on the political landscape in various regions of the state and determine the composition of local administrative bodies for the upcoming term.
