Andhra Pradesh is fully prepared for the impact of Cyclone Arnab, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said, as the state accelerated precautionary measures along its coastline. More than 84,000 residents from low-lying and vulnerable zones have been shifted to safer locations as part of the comprehensive evacuation drive.
The cyclone is forecast to bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds across multiple coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, necessitating the large-scale preventive measures. State authorities have positioned emergency response teams, medical personnel, and relief supplies in strategic locations to address any contingencies arising from the severe weather system.
The Andhra Pradesh government has instructed district officials to ensure shelters are adequately provisioned with food, water, and medical facilities for the evacuated population. Fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea, while fishing harbours have been directed to secure vessels and equipment.
State agencies are coordinating with central authorities and meteorological departments to monitor the cyclone's trajectory and intensity. Power distribution companies have been placed on high alert to manage potential outages, while roads and communication networks have been assessed for vulnerability.
The comprehensive preparedness measures reflect lessons learned from previous cyclones. Officials have emphasised that all evacuation centres are equipped with adequate sanitation, healthcare staff, and essential supplies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of displaced residents until conditions normalise.
