Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approves ₹4,054 crore rural water infrastructure plan

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has given its nod to a comprehensive ₹4,054-crore rural water works programme, marking a significant investment in infrastructure development across the state's villages. The decision underscores the government's commitment to improving water access in rural areas, a critical development priority in the agrarian state.

In related approvals, the Cabinet allocated ₹94 crore towards tobacco price support schemes, reflecting continued government backing for farmers engaged in the sector. The administration also extended a ₹950-crore government guarantee to Power Finance Corporation for a loan to Andhra Pradesh Transco Limited, bolstering the power utility's financial capacity for operational and developmental activities.

The Cabinet's agenda further encompassed sanction for 78 flood damage restoration and rehabilitation projects across Krishna, NTR, Guntur, and Bapatla districts. These initiatives aim to rehabilitate infrastructure damaged by recent flooding and strengthen disaster resilience in the affected areas. The combined approvals reflect a multi-pronged approach addressing rural development, agricultural support, power sector stability, and disaster recovery.
