Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister accelerates temple construction drive

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered state officials to fast-track construction of 5,000 temples across Andhra Pradesh as part of a broader religious infrastructure development programme. The directive comes as part of the government's commitment to strengthening cultural and spiritual institutions in the state.

In addition to the new temple construction, Naidu has mandated the restoration and rehabilitation of 1,000 ancient temples spread across Andhra Pradesh. The restoration programme aims to preserve historically significant religious structures and maintain their architectural heritage for future generations.

The Chief Minister has also specifically prioritised the development of Shiva temples and Shakti Peethas—sacred shrines dedicated to the feminine divine principle—as part of the comprehensive religious infrastructure initiative. These directives reflect the government's emphasis on religious and cultural preservation in the state.

The temple construction and restoration projects are expected to generate employment opportunities in construction and heritage conservation sectors while enhancing religious and cultural facilities for communities across Andhra Pradesh.
