Andhra Pradesh CM directs officials to prepare for Bay of Bengal cyclone

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has issued directives to all state officials to prepare contingency measures ahead of a cyclone developing in the Bay of Bengal. The alert was aimed at ensuring swift action to mitigate potential damage from the weather system and protect vulnerable populations.

Alongside disaster preparedness measures, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to maintain momentum on critical development projects. Officials have been instructed to ensure that 36 priority irrigation schemes remain on track for completion as per their scheduled timelines.

The dual focus reflects the administration's effort to balance immediate crisis management with long-term infrastructure development. The irrigation projects are considered essential for enhancing agricultural productivity and water security across the state.

State authorities are expected to coordinate with the India Meteorological Department for real-time updates on the cyclone's trajectory and intensity. Relief and rescue teams have been put on standby to respond rapidly to any adverse weather impacts across coastal and inland districts.
