The Chief Minister has called for enhanced support measures to address the compounding agricultural crisis facing Andhra Pradesh. Naidu urged the central team to consider the dual impact of prolonged drought conditions and back-to-back cyclonic activity that have devastated farming communities across several districts.
Among his key proposals is an increase in guaranteed employment days under the VB-GRAM G scheme from current levels to 200 days annually, aimed at providing sustained income support to affected agricultural households. The Chief Minister also seeks the issuance of ration cards for impacted families to ensure food security during the crisis period.
Additionally, Naidu has requested rescheduling of outstanding agricultural loans to ease the immediate financial burden on farmers, along with expedited processing and settlement of crop insurance claims. These measures are intended to provide immediate relief while supporting farmers' medium-term recovery from the climate-related disasters.
The appeal to the Inter-Ministerial Central Team signals Andhra Pradesh's efforts to secure enhanced central assistance under existing national agricultural support schemes, reflecting the severity of the crisis confronting the state's farming sector.
