Andhra Pradesh CM seeks PM backing on key development projects

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, pressing for central government support on several key developmental issues facing the state. The meeting touched on major infrastructure projects, the state's economic situation, and critical matters relating to agriculture and irrigation.

During the meeting, Naidu briefed the prime minister on the status and progress of significant development projects underway in Andhra Pradesh. He also took the opportunity to congratulate Modi on completing 25 years in government leadership, acknowledging his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister before his current role as Prime Minister.

Irrigation featured prominently in the discussions, with Naidu detailing the latest status of the Polavaram project and presenting the case for a Godavari-Cauvery river-linking initiative. According to the Chief Minister, the inter-basin link project would provide adequate water distribution across southern regions of the state, addressing longstanding agricultural water security concerns.

The Prime Minister's Office confirmed the meeting through a post on its official social media platform, underscoring the significance of the bilateral engagement between the state and central leadership.
