Andhra Pradesh Congress demands probe into alleged voter deletion bias
The Congress party's state leadership has accused the Chief Election Commissioner of partisan conduct, calling for an independent investigation into claims of systematic voter deletions from electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.

The Andhra Pradesh Congress committee on Wednesday levelled fresh allegations of electoral misconduct, asserting that the Chief Election Commission has shown marked bias in its handling of voter registration processes. Party officials contended that a disproportionate number of voters have been removed from electoral rolls in constituencies with significant Congress support, raising questions about the impartiality of poll administration.
The state Congress unit has formally requested that authorities initiate a transparent inquiry into the deletion patterns, arguing that such irregularities undermine democratic processes. Party representatives claimed that affected voters were not provided adequate opportunity to challenge their removal from voter lists, a procedural safeguard mandated under electoral law.
The allegations come amid heightened political tensions in the state, with multiple parties contesting the fairness of ongoing electoral preparations. The Congress party has indicated it may escalate its protest if concerns are not addressed through official channels in the coming weeks.
Electoral officials have not yet issued a public response to the charges. The Election Commission typically maintains strict protocols regarding voter roll management, though states occasionally report administrative discrepancies in registration databases.
