Andhra Pradesh Congress to field candidates in all local body elections

The Andhra Pradesh Congress party has adopted an ambitious electoral strategy, resolving to contest all available seats in the forthcoming local body elections across the state. The decision was taken at a meeting of the party's Political Affairs Committee, signalling the organisation's intent to strengthen its grassroots presence in the region.

In addition to the decision on electoral participation, the Congress committee has established a dedicated three-member panel tasked with exploring coalition possibilities. The committee will hold discussions with constituents of the INDIA bloc, ideologically aligned parties, and other organisations united in opposition to the Bharatiya Janata Party and the National Democratic Alliance.

The move reflects the Congress party's efforts to revitalise its organisational base in Andhra Pradesh, where it has faced declining electoral fortunes in recent years. By fielding candidates across all contested seats, the party aims to enhance its visibility and expand its electoral footprint at the local level.

The alliance committee's mandate suggests the Congress recognises the strategic value of collaborative efforts with like-minded parties to challenge the ruling dispensation. Such partnerships have proven significant in several Indian states where opposition unity has influenced electoral outcomes.
