Andhra Pradesh enlists industries to boost green cover across state

Andhra Pradesh is turning to its industrial sector to accelerate efforts to increase the state's green cover. Under a new campaign directed by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, the Forest Department is engaging manufacturing units and other industrial facilities to dedicate at least 33 per cent of their land premises to trees and plants.
The initiative represents a collaborative approach to environmental management, positioning industries as partners in the state's afforestation goals. By involving the private sector, officials aim to expand green spaces beyond traditional forest areas and create multiple zones of ecological benefit across industrial landscapes.
The campaign emphasises the planting of native species, ensuring that expansion efforts are suited to local climatic conditions and support regional biodiversity.
