Andhra Pradesh gears up massive water infrastructure for 2027 Godavari Pushkaram

Officials in Rajamahendravaram are undertaking substantial infrastructure preparations to manage the expected influx of devotees during the 2027 Godavari Pushkaram, one of Hinduism's most significant bathing festivals. The administration has drawn up plans to install approximately 3,000 water kiosks and 32,000 taps across the city to ensure adequate water supply for pilgrims and residents during the event.

The Pushkaram festival, held once every 12 years at the banks of the Godavari River, attracts millions of religious devotees seeking ritual purification. Preliminary estimates indicate that daily footfall could reach 80 lakh visitors during the initial days of the festival, placing enormous strain on existing civic infrastructure.

The water distribution plan represents a coordinated effort to prevent shortages and ensure hygienic conditions throughout the celebration period. Municipal authorities have identified key gathering points and pilgrimage routes where the kiosks and taps will be strategically positioned to serve both tourists and local residents.

The 2027 Godavari Pushkaram will mark a significant religious occasion for the region, requiring comprehensive planning across multiple departments including water supply, sanitation, and crowd management. Rajamahendravaram, as the primary venue for the festivities, is implementing these infrastructure enhancements as part of broader preparations to handle the massive congregation expected during this auspicious period.
