Andhra Pradesh launches ambitious 9-lakh housing scheme targeting 2029 completion

Chief Minister Naidu and his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stone for the first 300,000 homes under the housing initiative at a joint event, signalling the beginning of an accelerated construction phase. The scheme represents one of India's largest state-level housing efforts, targeting comprehensive residential coverage across all identified beneficiaries in Andhra Pradesh by 2029.

As part of the project's innovation drive, authorities have launched a pilot programme at Burripalem featuring 177 homes constructed using 3D-printing technology for wall construction. The experimental phase aims to evaluate the cost-effectiveness, structural integrity, and scalability of advanced construction methods for mass housing delivery.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, a central government flagship scheme, provides financial assistance and technical support for rural housing construction. The Andhra Pradesh initiative is expected to generate significant employment while addressing the state's housing deficit, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. Officials said the phased construction approach would ensure quality control and timely completion across all districts.
