Andhra Pradesh launches science conclave to promote Telugu-medium scientific education

The Andhra Vignana Sammelanam-2026 opened at Sri Padmavati Arts and Science College in Vijayawada, bringing together educators, scientists, and knowledge practitioners to explore the intersection of classical Indian wisdom and contemporary science. The conclave represents a broader initiative to democratise scientific education by making advanced concepts accessible through regional languages rather than relying exclusively on English-medium instruction.

Organisers emphasise that the two-day event serves as a platform for discussing pedagogical innovations that leverage Telugu as a medium for teaching science and technology. By doing so, the conference seeks to address persistent gaps in scientific literacy across vernacular-medium educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh.

A key focus of the sammelanam is reconnecting traditional Indian knowledge systems—including Ayurveda, classical mathematics, and indigenous agricultural practices—with modern scientific methodologies. This approach acknowledges that India's historical contributions to science and mathematics remain largely undervalued in contemporary curricula.
