Andhra Pradesh logs 41 poll-related incidents during ULB elections

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta said on Wednesday that authorities have registered 41 incidents related to the ongoing urban local body (ULB) elections in the state. Despite the reported violations, Gupta emphasized that the electoral process has maintained its peaceful character overall.

Addressing concerns over electoral misconduct, the police chief stated that every complaint filed during the ULB elections is being treated with utmost seriousness. He assured the public that strict legal action will be initiated against those found responsible for poll-related violations.

The 41 incidents represent violations ranging from unauthorized campaigning to breach of election protocols during the ULB electoral process. While the specific nature of each incident was not immediately detailed, the police department said it has mobilized adequate resources to monitor polling centers and ensure compliance with electoral guidelines.

Gupta's statement came as voting progressed across the state's urban local bodies. The police force has been coordinating with election officials to maintain order and ensure a free and fair electoral process, with enhanced surveillance measures in place at sensitive polling stations.
