Mining revenue in Andhra Pradesh climbed to ₹1,287 crore, marking a 12.90% increase, according to the state's mining minister. The growth reflects improved extraction and regulatory compliance across the sector's operations in the state.
Major minerals, which include commercial minerals of higher value, demonstrated more robust expansion with a 53.50% surge in revenue. This outpaced the overall sector growth, indicating concentrated gains in high-value mineral extraction and suggesting accelerated activity in specific commodity segments.
The state government has charted an ambitious trajectory for the mining sector's economic contribution. Andhra Pradesh is targeting mining's share in gross value added (GVA) to reach 3.70% by 2028-29, up from current levels. This expansion represents part of a broader push to strengthen the state's mining infrastructure and exploration capabilities.
The revenue growth comes as several Indian states intensify efforts to capitalize on their mineral wealth while strengthening regulatory frameworks. Andhra Pradesh's improved figures suggest successful implementation of mining policies and increased investor interest in the region's mineral resources.
