State ministers have instructed power utilities across Andhra Pradesh to prepare for potential cyclone damage, with officials pre-positioning replacement equipment ahead of the severe weather event. The state has assembled 25,000 electricity poles at strategic locations to enable rapid restoration of damaged infrastructure once the cyclone passes through affected areas.
Authorities have activated dedicated support mechanisms to assist residents during the emergency period. Members of the public experiencing power supply disruptions during the cyclone can contact helpline 1912 to report faults and receive assistance, state officials said.
The advance preparations reflect lessons learned from previous cyclonic events in the region. By mobilising resources and establishing communication channels in advance, officials aim to minimise service interruptions and accelerate recovery efforts. Power distribution teams have also been placed on standby with maintenance crews positioned across districts.
The state government has coordinated with all relevant utilities to ensure coordinated response protocols are in place. Additional stocks of cables, transformers, and other critical equipment have been secured at depots across Andhra Pradesh to support emergency restoration work.
