Police in Andhra Pradesh have conducted extensive preventive measures ahead of the local body polls, with authorities binding over 1,05,000 persons identified as potential threats to electoral peace. Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta said the operations underscored the police department's commitment to ensuring free and fair elections.
The police campaign has yielded significant results across multiple fronts. Officers executed 2,726 pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs) and registered 261 election-related cases during the operation period. These figures demonstrate the scope of the law enforcement initiative undertaken to maintain order in the run-up to polling.
Addressing law and order concerns, police have also seized substantial quantities of prohibited items. Authorities confiscated liquor valued at ₹11.99 lakh and 495 kilograms of ganja during enforcement operations. The seizures reflect ongoing efforts to prevent the use of contraband materials in influencing voters or disrupting the electoral process.
The preventive measures align with standard electoral protocols adopted across Indian states to maintain the integrity of local body elections. Police departments typically intensify operations during the pre-poll period to address potential disturbances and ensure that voting proceeds without incident.
