Andhra Pradesh police bust dual-identity theft ring operating across region

Law enforcement authorities in Anantapur have dismantled a criminal network that exploited its cover as scrap collectors to conduct reconnaissance and execute burglaries across the district. The gang of six members used their daily rounds collecting waste materials to identify potential targets and assess security measures at residential and commercial properties.

According to police statements, the organized group was responsible for a series of coordinated thefts spanning multiple months. Their modus operandi involved gathering intelligence during daytime scrap collection activities, then returning to targeted locations under cover of darkness to commit burglaries. The systematic approach allowed them to evade detection and execute numerous crimes before drawing the attention of law enforcement.

Investigating officers recovered valuables and stolen goods valued at approximately ₹60 lakh from the arrested individuals. The recovered items include jewelry, electronics, and other high-value merchandise allegedly taken during the 13 documented theft incidents. Police are continuing their investigation to determine if the gang's involvement extends beyond the currently identified cases.

The arrests represent a significant breakthrough in addressing property crimes in the Anantapur region. Authorities have intensified patrols and community awareness campaigns to prevent similar organized theft operations in the future.
