Andhra Pradesh is mobilizing resources and issuing emergency alerts ahead of Cyclonic Storm Murasu's anticipated landfall, just days after Cyclone Arnab impacted the region. The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that Murasu is likely to strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm by early Monday, heightening concerns across coastal and inland areas.
State authorities have activated red alert warnings in five districts of Andhra Pradesh as a precautionary measure. Emergency response teams have been positioned across vulnerable zones, with evacuation protocols readied for immediate deployment if required. District administrations are conducting final checks on cyclone shelters, relief supplies, and communication networks to ensure coordinated disaster management operations.
Beyond Andhra Pradesh, the meteorological system is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to parts of Tamil Nadu and Odisha as well. The rapid succession of two cyclonic systems within a short timeframe has raised concerns among disaster management officials about cumulative weather impacts and potential flooding in already saturated regions.
The weather office is issuing regular updates on Murasu's trajectory and intensity. Residents in affected areas have been advised to remain alert, avoid coastal regions, and follow directions from local authorities. Fishing communities along the coast have been instructed to return to shore and suspend maritime activities until the weather situation stabilizes.
