Andhra Pradesh records 14 poll violations on final nomination day

Andhra Pradesh recorded 14 cases of electoral violations on the final day of nominations for ongoing local body elections, according to the state's Director General of Police. The cases were booked under various provisions related to election conduct and polling norms. The violations underscore the law enforcement challenges faced during the nomination period, a traditionally high-stakes phase in the electoral cycle when candidates file their candidacies and campaigns intensify. To manage the situation, the Andhra Pradesh Police have deployed 36 platoons of Special Police as part of comprehensive election bandobust arrangements. The deployment reflects efforts to maintain law and order and prevent electoral malpractices across polling stations and nomination venues. Election officials have indicated that security measures will remain in place through the voting phase to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process. The state police said they remain vigilant against violations including intimidation of voters, distribution of inducements, and unauthorized campaigning activities.
