The Andhra Pradesh State Information Commission has garnered national recognition for significantly accelerating the disposal of Right to Information (RTI) cases, according to State Chief Information Commissioner Vajja Srinivasa Rao.
Between January and September 2026, the Commission disposed of 7,034 cases—a dramatic increase from the 3,252 cases handled during the same period in 2024 and 3,326 in 2025. The figures underscore the Commission's strengthened operational capacity and commitment to ensuring timely access to public information for citizens.
The surge in case disposal comes at a time when RTI applications have become critical tools for transparency and accountability across Indian governance. States have increasingly focused on reducing pendency in information requests to improve public service delivery.
The Commission's improved performance is likely to set a benchmark for other state information commissions operating under the RTI Act, 2005. The acceleration also reflects enhanced staffing, streamlined processes, and better case management systems implemented by the Andhra Pradesh Commission in recent years.
