Andhra Pradesh to construct 177 homes using 3D-printed walls under PMAY-G

Andhra Pradesh will launch an ambitious housing project incorporating 3D-printed wall technology across 177 homes in Guntur district villages, marking a notable experiment in affordable housing construction. The pilot scheme will be formally inaugurated at Burripalem village near Tenali, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister of Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan presiding over the event, according to statements from state officials.

The project falls under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Grameen (PMAY-G), the central government's rural housing initiative. However, each home constructed under the pilot is estimated at approximately ₹6.5 lakh, substantially exceeding the standard PMAY-G unit cost of ₹2.39 lakh per dwelling. The cost differential reflects the incorporation of advanced 3D-printing construction technology in the project design.

The initiative represents an effort to explore innovative building methods in rural housing development, combining the government's affordable housing mission with emerging construction technologies. The outcome of the Guntur pilot is expected to inform broader policy discussions regarding the scalability and viability of such methods across India's housing sector.

Details regarding funding mechanisms, timeline for completion, and technological specifications of the 3D-printed wall construction remain to be clarified through official project announcements.
