Andhra Pradesh to partner with IITs, IIMs for civil service training

The Andhra Pradesh government will forge partnerships with the Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institutes of Management to strengthen the training infrastructure for its civil servants, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced during a meeting with senior officials.

Naidu emphasised that skill enhancement should be an ongoing process for government employees rather than a one-time exercise. He pointed to the existing continuous learning framework for IAS officers as a model that should be extended across the broader civil service cadre in the state.

The initiative seeks to equip government employees with contemporary skills and knowledge necessary to deliver efficient public services. By leveraging the expertise and resources of IITs and IIMs, the state aims to establish a robust training ecosystem that can adapt to evolving administrative challenges and technological advancements.

The Chief Minister's directive reflects a broader push to modernise the state's governance machinery and improve the capacity of its workforce. Officials have been tasked with developing a structured framework for identifying training needs, designing customised programmes, and ensuring regular participation of employees across various departments and levels.

This move aligns with efforts by several states to professionalise their civil services through partnerships with leading educational institutions, recognising that continuous learning is critical for effective governance and service delivery.
