Andhra temple deploys 'laddu ATM' to meet Dasara demand surge

Facing unprecedented demand for its celebrated prasadam during the Dasara Navaratri celebrations, the Indrakeeladri temple in Vijayawada has rolled out a technological solution to streamline distribution. The 'laddu ATM' allows devotees to complete transactions digitally, reducing queues and enabling faster access to the temple's signature offering.

The initiative reflects growing visitor footfall at the ancient shrine during the nine-day festival season. By incorporating online payment options, the temple has made it convenient for devotees to participate in the traditional practice of receiving blessed sweets without enduring extended waiting periods.

Each transaction through the system allows devotees to receive two laddus, standardizing the distribution process. The move combines religious tradition with contemporary convenience, addressing logistical challenges that arise during peak pilgrimage seasons in South India.

Temples across Andhra Pradesh have increasingly adopted digital systems in recent years to manage large crowds during major festivals. The Indrakeeladri temple's laddu dispensing unit is among the latest examples of how sacred spaces are adapting to modern visitor expectations while maintaining age-old religious customs.
