Angat Dam water level surges 40 meters after weeks of monsoon rains
Heavy precipitation from the southwest monsoon and two typhoons has dramatically increased water levels at the Philippines' critical water supply facility. The water level at Angat Dam in Bulacan has climbed substantially following an extended period of heavy rains that battered the region over the past weeks. According to the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, the reservoir rose more than 40 meters as successive weather systems brought persistent precipitation to the area.
Typhoons Maymay and Luis, combined with the ongoing southwest monsoon, dumped significant rainfall across the watershed feeding the critical infrastructure. The continuous weather disturbances contributed to the dramatic increase in the dam's water storage, with the facility registering 191.53 meters above sea level as of Monday.
