Anti-corruption body seeks freeze on luxury property in Rs120m bribery probe

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court that it will take steps to freeze a luxury house owned by the primary suspect in an alleged Rs. 120 million bribery case.

The case centers on suspected corrupt dealings connected to notorious drug trafficker Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, also known as 'Harak Kata'. CIABOC's disclosure was made during proceedings at the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The freezing of the property is expected to prevent the suspect from disposing of assets during the investigation and legal proceedings. The move underscores the scale of the alleged corruption scheme being probed by the anti-corruption agency.

The investigation continues as authorities move to secure assets potentially linked to the bribery allegations. Further details regarding the timeline and execution of the asset freeze order are expected to emerge as the case progresses through the courts.
