MANILA — The Department of Justice has received a complaint accusing Pyra Nucum Lucas, chairperson of the United Pilipino Against Crime and Corruption (UPACC), and four other individuals of destructive arson in connection with a house fire in Capas, Tarlac.
Emil and Analyn Cadiang, who owned the newly constructed residence, filed the complaint alleging that Lucas and her associates deliberately set fire to their property. The case is now under DOJ review for possible criminal charges.
Details surrounding the allegations and the circumstances that led to the filing of the complaint remain limited. The DOJ has not yet announced a timeline for its investigation or when it might forward the case for prosecution.
The allegations mark a significant development involving a prominent figure in the citizens' anti-crime movement in the Philippines. The outcome of the DOJ's investigation could have broader implications for the organization and its leadership.
