Anupam Kher defends singer Daler Mehndi after minister's public rebuke

Actor Anupam Kher has rallied behind Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi, offering his support after the vocalist faced public criticism from Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal during an event. Kher's intervention marks a significant show of solidarity from the entertainment fraternity for the singer, who is known for his energetic performances and contributions to popular music.

The incident occurred when minister Uniyal made critical remarks about Mehndi during a public gathering, drawing widespread attention across social media and entertainment circles. Rather than let the matter pass, Kher questioned the minister's conduct and its appropriateness.

In response to the episode, Kher appealed to the broader entertainment industry to voice their support for Mehndi. The actor's intervention underscores ongoing tensions between the entertainment sector and political figures regarding public conduct and professional courtesy.

The developments highlight the visibility that performers enjoy in India's public sphere and the willingness of senior industry figures to defend their peers against public criticism. Mehndi's career spans decades of contribution to popular music and entertainment, making the support from established actors like Kher particularly notable.
