PUTRAJAYA — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the 2027 federal budget represents a direct outcome of disciplined fiscal management and the government's ongoing efforts to minimise waste and leakages within the public sector.

Anwar indicated that savings achieved through improved financial controls and operational efficiency have freed up additional resources for social assistance and development programmes. These recovered funds have enabled the administration to allocate more substantial support to citizens and strategic initiatives despite the country's fiscal constraints.

The government's focus on plugging financial leakages and reducing wasteful spending has been a cornerstone of its economic management strategy. By tightening controls across ministries and government departments, authorities have redirected funds previously lost to inefficiency towards public benefit.

The approach underscores the administration's commitment to ensuring taxpayer money is deployed effectively. Officials have previously highlighted initiatives to combat fraud and improve procurement practices as key measures in the broader effort to strengthen public finances and enhance economic stability.
