APSRTC deploys 5,261 special buses as Dasara travel peaks in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has ramped up its operational capacity ahead of the Dasara festival, with 5,261 special buses pressed into service to accommodate the anticipated rush of travellers across the state. The enhanced fleet represents a significant scaling up of regular services to manage the seasonal surge in passenger traffic.

Pandit Nehru Bus Station in Vijayawada, one of the region's major transportation hubs, is witnessing heightened activity as families and workers travel during the festival period. The station serves as a critical nodal point for inter-city connectivity, particularly for routes connecting Andhra Pradesh with neighbouring states.

The transport department has extended service coverage to include major metropolitan centres outside the state, with dedicated routes operational to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. This expansion reflects the significant population movement expected during the Dasara celebrations, which typically sees increased holiday travel as people return to their native towns and villages.

APSRTC's decision to deploy additional buses underscores the corporation's efforts to ease congestion and provide reliable transport options during the festive season. The special services are expected to remain in operation throughout the peak travel period, with the corporation coordinating schedules to manage demand from both regular commuters and festive travellers.
