Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu on Wednesday visited the historic Arasavalli Sun temple in Andhra Pradesh, expressing optimism about its emergence as a major spiritual destination. Accompanied by the district Collector, Naidu underscored the temple's potential to attract pilgrims from across India and abroad.
The minister emphasised that improved transportation infrastructure would be instrumental in realising this vision. He specifically highlighted the Bhogapuram airport project as a key catalyst, noting that enhanced air connectivity would facilitate easier access for devotees from other states and international visitors seeking to experience the temple's spiritual significance.
The Arasavalli temple, dedicated to the Sun God, holds considerable historical and religious importance in the region. Naidu's visit reflects the government's broader focus on developing spiritual and cultural tourism corridors that combine heritage preservation with modern infrastructure development.
The development of the Bhogapuram airport, located in proximity to the temple, is expected to boost pilgrimage tourism in the region and generate economic opportunities for local communities. Officials believe that seamless connectivity will position the Arasavalli shrine among India's prominent pilgrimage centres, attracting significant visitor footfall in the coming years.
