Asset Reconstruction Company India Limited (ARCIL) has unveiled its initial public offering details with a price band of ₹132 to ₹139 per share, marking the state-owned asset recovery firm's entry into the equity market. Investors will be able to subscribe for a minimum of one lot comprising 107 shares, with multiples thereof available for application.
Market analysts have adopted a cautious stance on the offering, citing two key structural concerns. The first relates to the offer for sale (OFS) component accounting for the entire public issuance, meaning no new capital is being raised by the company itself. Instead, existing shareholders are divesting their stakes, raising questions about the company's capital requirements and growth prospects.
Second, analysts have highlighted the lumpy nature of ARCIL's business model, which relies heavily on the recovery of non-performing assets across the banking sector. This concentration risk, coupled with the macroeconomic sensitivity of asset recoveries, has prompted several brokerages to assign 'neutral' ratings to the IPO.
ARCIL, which manages stressed assets on behalf of public sector banks and financial institutions, operates in a niche but cyclical segment. The company's performance is intrinsically linked to the banking sector's asset quality cycles and the pace of recovery operations, factors that some analysts view as limiting the stock's upside potential over the medium term.
