Argentina launches investment-linked citizenship programme

Argentina has unveiled a fresh investment-linked citizenship programme designed to attract foreign capital while broadening its resident base. Under the initiative, prospective investors can choose between two pathways to secure residency and citizenship status.

The first option requires a direct, non-refundable contribution of US$350,000 to the Argentine government. Alternatively, investors may subscribe to a special US$800,000 government bond, which provides a fixed-income investment vehicle while meeting the programme's financial threshold.

The scheme represents Argentina's latest effort to facilitate immigration through financial investment, a model adopted by numerous countries seeking to attract high-net-worth individuals and boost foreign exchange reserves. Such programmes have become increasingly common across Latin America and other regions as governments seek alternative revenue sources.

Details regarding processing timelines, residency duration before citizenship eligibility, and additional requirements such as language proficiency or background checks were not immediately available. The programme is expected to appeal particularly to investors from neighbouring countries and those seeking diversified residency options in South America.
