Armed attack kills 20 in South Sudan as nation faces mounting crises

Armed gunmen launched a coordinated assault on a military base in Warrap state, in the country's northeast, resulting in the deaths of 16 military and police personnel alongside four civilians. The incident marks another instance of armed violence in a nation struggling to consolidate peace following years of civil conflict.

The attack highlights the precarious security situation across South Sudan, where state institutions remain fragile and armed groups continue to operate with relative impunity in many areas.
