Armed gang makes off with RM1 million in gold from Sungai Petani jewellery shop
Four masked men have stolen approximately RM1 million worth of gold jewellery from a retail shop in Sungai Petani, Kedah, in a swift daytime raid. Police say the gang smashed display cases before fleeing on motorcycles.

The heist occurred at a jewellery shop in Sungai Petani, with Kuala Muda district police chief Hanyan Ramlan confirming the incident on Thursday. Two of the suspects forcibly broke into three display cases while two accomplices remained outside the store as lookouts, according to the police chief's account.
The gang made their escape on motorcycles shortly after the theft, leaving behind limited forensic evidence at the scene. Police have launched an investigation into the raid, which marks a significant jewellery theft in the northern state.
The incident has prompted concerns among business owners in Sungai Petani regarding shop security. Authorities have appealed to members of the public with information about the stolen goods or the suspects to come forward.
