Armed gunmen hold up football team bus in Pakistan's Balochistan

An armed gang intercepted a bus carrying a football team in Balochistan province on Wednesday, robbing players of personal belongings at gunpoint. The incident occurred on the route between Mastung and Sariyab as the squad traveled from Karachi to Quetta.

According to reports, approximately a dozen heavily armed men flagged down the vehicle and forced passengers to disembark. The gunmen then systematically relieved the players of mobile phones, cash and other valuable items before fleeing the scene.

The incident highlights ongoing security concerns along major highways in Balochistan, where armed robberies and militant activity have persisted despite military operations in the region. Road travel through parts of the province remains hazardous, with travellers frequently targeted by armed groups.

No injuries were reported in the robbery, and it remains unclear whether the attack was motivated by criminal intent or other factors. Authorities have not yet announced arrests or recovered any of the stolen items.
