Army accelerates reconstruction efforts in quake-damaged Mindanao communities

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Philippine Army has intensified rehabilitation work across earthquake-affected towns in southern Mindanao, with troops completing 89 temporary shelters for displaced families in Sarangani province as part of broader reconstruction efforts.

Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon, commander of the Army's 10th Infantry Division, has overseen the rebuilding initiative that demonstrates the military's shift toward humanitarian assistance in the region months after the destructive magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the area.

The temporary structures are intended to provide immediate housing solutions while affected communities work toward permanent reconstruction. The shelter program represents one component of the wider rehabilitation drive spanning multiple earthquake-impacted municipalities across Mindanao.
