Army honors two soldiers wounded in Sultan Kudarat clash

COTABATO CITY — Two military personnel were honored Wednesday for their service after being wounded during a confrontation with an unlawful armed group in Sultan Kudarat province.

Brig. Gen. Ricky Bunayog, commander of the Army's 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central, presented Wounded Personnel Medals to Sergeant George Tusan and Corporal Gexter in recognition of their courageous performance of duty during the incident.

In addition to the military decoration, both soldiers received monetary assistance as part of the armed forces' support program for personnel injured in operational duties. The cash aid forms part of the military's broader welfare initiatives for uniformed personnel and their families.

The 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central regularly conduct operations across the Mindanao region to maintain security and counter militant activities. The recognition of the two soldiers highlights the ongoing security challenges in Sultan Kudarat and the dedication of military personnel serving in the area.
